1 Hour Beanie - Beginning Crochet Series



1 Hour Beanie by Jess Coppom (Make and Do Crew), taught by Stephanie Rice

 

Come learn the basics of crochet by making this beanie! The beanie is worked in flat, turned rows, and then seamed to make a cute, quick beanie. We will learn how to start a crochet project, basic stitches, and crocheting flat, as well as seaming and adding pom poms.

 

Prerequisites:

Materials:

Yarn:

This pattern calls for 190-250 yards of Bulky yarn. You can use a Bulky yarn, or two strands of Worsted held double. We recommend two skeins of Berroco Vintage Chunky for this project.

Needles and Notions:

8mm crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge.

Yarn needle for seaming, stitch marker

Pattern: Pattern is available for free on Ravelry 

Optional:

Faux fur pom pom or pom pom maker, if you’d like to add a pom pom.

 

Gauge:

11 sts x 5.25 rows

 

Homework:

Read through the blog post and pattern. If you already know how to dcblo, go ahead and make your gauge swatch.

 

Class dates and time:

February 12 and 19 from 2pm-4pm.

 

Missed classes can be made up at the instructor's discretion.
