Ahsoka Slipover
The Ahsoka Slipover with the crossing front pieces is a timeless design for
the modern wardrobe. To begin with, the 'saddle shoulders' are made
individually with Judy's Magic cast-on, and then stitches are picked up to
first knit the back piece with fine details, and then the front pieces. The
front pieces are knitted in two layers - an upper and a lower front piece,
which, due to repeated decreases, will later cross each other at the front
of the body. All edges along the slanting front pieces and along the
armholes are knitted simultaneously with the rest of the slipover. Ahsoka
Slipover is knitted from the top-down in one piece and therefore
assembly-free.
Ahsoka Slipover comes in 2 versions.
Version 1: is shorter and the front splits higher on the torso. Suitable for
shorter torsos and frames.
Version 2: is longer and the front splits lower on the torso. Suitable for
longer torsos and frames
Prerequisites:
Must know how to knit, and have a basic understanding of increases,
decreases and Judy’s magic cast on to take this class.
Although this is mostly made up with basic stitches, I would
recommend this class to those who are at least an Advanced
Beginner, as there are many moving parts to this pattern.
Materials:
Yarn:
This pattern calls for 957-1340 yards of Worsted weight yarn by holding
together a light fingering and a sport/DK weight yarn. We recommend
holding a fuzzy yarn like CashSilk Light with a sock yarn for a fabric with
great memory and a nice halo.
Please see the pattern linked below for the yarn quantity needed for your
size.
Needles and Notions:
2 sets of US 6/4mm 32” or 40” needles (it can be one set of circulars and
two DPNs if needed)
1 set of US 2.5/3mm 16” or 32” circular or 1 set of DPN’s
Or appropriate needle sizes to meet gauge
10 stitch markers for on needle usage
1 pack of try it on tubing or waste yarn (to hold resting stitches)
Scissors
Darning needle
OPTIONAL:
100+ locking stitch markers if you would like to mark every decrease
1 progress keeper (special marker used to track progress between
classes)
Pattern: Pattern is available on Ravelry for 50 DKK or about $7
Gauge:
23 sts x 31 rows in stockinette = 4 x 4” on US 6/4mm needles
32 sts x 31 rows in 1x1 rib = 4 x 4” on US 6/4mm needles
Homework:
Purchase and review the pattern in it’s entirety. Knit, block and dry your
gauge swatch before the start of class. Please be sure to continue
swatching until you meet gauge with the yarn(s) you will be using to
complete this project. Choose size you’ll be making and highlight
appropriate repeats and stitch counts on the pattern based on your size.
Watch the Judy’s Magic Cast On video linked in the pattern.
Class dates and time:
Sunday, January 5th, 12th, 26th, February 2nd, and 9th (short version) or
16th (long version) from 9:30-11:30am.
Missed classes can be made up at the instructor's discretion.
