Mezzo Cardigan
Mezzo Cardigan
by Jess Coppom (Make and Do Crew), taught by Stephanie Rice
A modern crochet cardigan with an interesting (and relatively easy)
technique! This oversized, textured cardigan is perfect for chilly weather
and layering. You’ll learn a different sweater construction and interesting
stitches. And the best part, no seaming!
Prerequisites:
This is an advanced beginner pattern. Some knowledge of crochet
stitches and techniques such as working in the round, increasing,
and decreasing required.
Materials:
Yarn:
This pattern calls for heavy dk/light worsted weight yarn, with yardage
ranging from 1,856 yrds to 3,248 yrds depending on the size. Note: the
pattern lists recommended yarn in GRAMS, not YARDS. We recommend
Cascade 220 Superwash Merino for this sweater.
Needles and Notions:
6mm crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge.
13 stitch markers (ideally numbered 1-6)
Yarn needle
Scissors
Pattern: Pattern is available for free on Make and Do Crew’s blog.
The ad-free PDF is available for purchase for $5.99 here.
We highly recommend purchasing the pattern. It is a long one and the ads
make it difficult to follow on the blog.
Gauge:
7 rounds of the hexagon measures 3.5”
27 dc=7.5”
You can create a flat, square swatch to measure stitch gauge, or measure
after the first 7 rounds of the pattern for row and stitch gauge.
Homework:
Read through the pattern and get your yarn. We can do the gauge swatch
in the first class.
Class dates and time:
Sundays January 28, February 4 and 18, March 3, 2pm-4pm
Missed classes can be made up at the instructor's discretion.
